I choose to start this year slow. I do have goals for this year, quite a few actually; but I’m not heading towards them full force & ridged. I have a sense of urgency, but I am not being intense in my approach to reaching those goals.
Now, truthfully, I was sick the entire month of December. I did not begin feeling like myself until Jan 2nd LOL. So this probably plays a part in my decision to start slow. But another reason is because I’m over all of the “new year, new me” hype, just for everyone to end up being the same “them” they started with…it’s getting old.
I too am getting old. I’m heading into my last year of my 30’s so I don’t have the time or the energy to make intense schedules, huge weight loss goals, exhausting exercise regimes, and a plan to hit $1M in 2025. Like, it’s crazy to think we’ve always been crazed over the new year themes.
I’ve been in business and around biz owners for most of career, and a lot of who I follow online are biz people, so maybe that’s why I’m always seeing the new year fanatics. But I’m done with that this year.
So here’s to starting slow. I wrote all my goals down in Notion today. But guess what? None of them have due dates.
So yes I will drink more water, eat more veggies, get at least 8k steps in each day, and begin my body weight exercises…when I feel back to 100% and when time permits.
Yes, I have biz goals, but I’m not focusing on the numbers. I am focusing on creating + sharing valuable content that is helpful to my audience. I am focused on impact.
Yes I will save money this year and increase my credit score. I wrote down a plan for all my money and cc’s. It’ll happen.
Yes, I will approach motherhood with a more gentle approach. Taking each day at a time but these kids are a lot!
Yes, I will read my Bible every morning. Sometimes I will get up and make coffee and read my physical Bible or I will read in bed via the Bible app.
Our goals are valid and will be accomplished whether we jump into the deep end, or if we choose to ease into them. They will get accomplished either way.
I pray that as moms we give ourselves grace for once. We carry the weight of the world, the least we can do is be gentle with ourselves. I spent a long time feeling guilty about where I was in life & about what I did or did not have accomplished by a certain time/age. But God doesn’t see us this way. Eventually I gave myself permission to be thankful, be content, and keep working towards my future.

Here is a blessing for the mom starting slow in 2025:
Blessed is the mom who is taking her time
For once she is making space for rest and slow progress
Blessed is the mom who see’s value in taking things slow this year
She is letting go of doing all the things all at once
Blessed is the mom with goals but who understands that there is no race
Competition and speed do not live here
Blessed is the mom who is letting God lead the way
Blessed is the mom who is embracing slow mornings and relaxed nights
Write down the goals, but let God lead you on the path of taking action
Rest if you need it. Sleep if you need it. Step away when you need to.
Blessed is your year
Blessed is your life
Blessed are your goals
Blessed is your time
Blessed are we, the moms.
May God show us the way down the path to His purpose.
In His perfect timing may His will be done
Amen
